2020 -2022Mission Goal:  $71,000

This Mission Goal will fund $46,150 for LWML-NED Mission Grants, $17,750 for national LWML mission grants and $7,100 for LWML-NED administration.

2020-2022 Mission Grants for Funding

 1. Orphan Grain Train New England Branch, Terryville, CT            $5,000

The Orphan Grain Train helps people locally and throughout the world through collection and shipment of medical equipment, clothing, food, hygiene kits, and school supplies.  This grant will help with the costs associated with one shipment for the OGT New England Branch.

  1. Reach Me! Teach Me! Trinity Christian School, Keene, NH   $5,000

Trinity Christian School is primary mission of Trinity Lutheran Church in Keene, NH. This grant will fund a portion of a one-year marketing campaign produced by a Christian marketing agency to create awareness of the church and school, increase school enrollment and reach more children with a Christian education.

3. Trinity Lutheran Preschool, Trinity Lutheran Church, Ashaway, RI  $1,200

Trinity Lutheran Church Preschool is a mission to the community of Ashaway, RI and has provided Christian preschool education for 35 years. This grant will purchase two child-friendly carpets for our classroom to replace our worn ones.

  1. Lydia Comfort Dog, Messiah Lutheran Church, Lynnfield, MA     $5,000 

Lydia Comfort Dog brings comfort to people at schools, nursing homes, hospitals, and in disaster response situations.  This grant will provide funds for Lydia and her handler to quickly deploy when invited to emergency or disaster sites.

5a.   Concordia Theological Seminary Co-Op, Ft. Wayne, IN         $2,500

The Concordia Theological Seminary Food Co-Op provides 80%-90% of food and household needs for seminary students and their families and is completely donor funded.

5b.   Feed My Faith, First Lutheran Church and School, Holyoke, MA  $1,000

“Feed My Faith” is a monthly evening Chapel service for First Lutheran School families and congregational members followed by a light meal and fellowship. This grant will be used to pay for food for the meals.

6. NED-LCMS Short Term Mission Trips, LWML-NED     $6,000

This grant will provide scholarships to members of LCMS New England District congregations who are embarking on short-term mission trips.

7. Capstone Education Fund, Capstone Ministries, Kenya    $5,000

Capstone Ministries, an LCMS RSO founded in 2005, is a ministry to the street children of Western Kenya with the objective of restoring street children with their family through spiritual and educational efforts. This grant will provide funding for additional scholarships and additional children.

  1. At Just the Right Time, LCMS Mission Central, Mapleton, IA       $3,500 

This grant will provide necessary financial support for LCMS missionaries already in the field, including transportation to their country. 

9. Support for Missionaries: Serving the Lord in Ghana, West Africa $5,000

Rev. Dr. Steven and Cindy Schumacher serve as career missionaries of the LCMS in Ghana, West Africa. This grant will enable their mission work to continue by providing living and mission-related expenses.

10. Prodigal Ministry, LCMS New England District    $2,000

Prodigal Ministry is a New England District outreach program, through workshops, retreats, and support groups, to people who have left the Christian faith in which they were raised and previously confessed. This grant will provide funds for program expenses and scholarships.

  1. Concordia Seminary’s International Graduate Students, St. Louis, MO $3,000

International students often don’t have enough resources to fund their advanced degrees. When they have graduated, these students will become seminary professors and church leaders in their own country. In these positions they will have considerable impacts that will reach into the future spreading the Gospel.

12. Caring for Haitian Saints, Ministry in Mission, Haiti     $1,950

Ministry in Mission is an LCMS RSO with the mission of helping for the elderly in Haiti through the Jacmel Lutheran Home. This grant will directly support the care of elderly residents by paying for daily operations for Jacmel Lutheran Home
